CBD oils
What is the shelf life of CBD oil?
In principle, every CBD oil should have a best-before date on it. CBD oils usually have a shelf life of around six months after opening. Unopened, it can be even longer. It is important that the CBD oil is stored away from light and refrigerated.
Can you buy CBD legally?
Our CBD oils are registered as oral care products in the EU and can be legally purchased.
CBD during pregnancy?
Women should not use CBD products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. This is because it is not known how phytocannabinoids such as CBD affect the unborn child. It is also not known exactly whether a newborn baby absorbs CBD with its mother's milk. As CBD is metabolized and broken down in the liver, people who regularly take medication should also exercise caution, as interactions can occur. Likewise, people who suffer from liver disease or liver damage should not use CBD oils.
Do CBD oils have side effects?
Our products have safety reports and are registered as cosmetic products in the EU. Each batch of our CBD oils is also tested in the laboratory. The use as a cosmetic product is therefore safe and CBD drops are generally well tolerated. Mild side effects only occur in rare cases. This is also described by the World Health Organization (WHO) in its Critical Review Report on cannabidiol (CBD).
Can CBD oils cause side effects?
Like many medications, CBD is metabolized by certain liver enzymes. This means that the simultaneous intake of CBD products and medication is not recommended.
For these reasons, CBD oils should not be combined with the following medications:
- Anticoagulants such as warfarin
- Antiepileptic drugs (clobazam)
- Acid inhibitors such as omeprazole
- Neuroleptics such as risperidone
- Antibiotics such as rifampicin
- Benzodiazepines and sleeping pills
- Painkillers such as Diclofenact
- Cystotica
If you regularly take medication, it is strongly recommended that you consult a doctor before using CBD products.
Is CBD oil without THC?
Various products are offered under the term CBD oil: A product in which CBD isolate is dissolved in a carrier oil is THC-free. In comparison, a full-spectrum CBD oil always contains small traces of THC. Broad-spectrum oils, on the other hand, are THC-free. This is because the THC is "filtered out" using a special process.
Which CBD oil variety is the best?
Everyone reacts differently to CBD and has different preferences. While one person may have good experiences with a full-spectrum extract, another may prefer THC-free products. There is also no general recommendation for CBD concentration. For example, one person may experience positive effects after just a few drops of an oil with a low CBD content, while another may need several drops of a product with a higher content. It is therefore important to use oils that are of high quality and to start with low doses.
Can CBD influence a THC test?
No, CBD cannot influence a THC test, as it is simply not "searched for". In a drug test (saliva test, THC rapid test, blood or urine test), only the THC-COOH value is decisive. This is a degradation product of THC and is stored by the body in fat cells due to its fat-soluble properties.
What CBD products are available?
CBD oil is one of the most widely used CBD products. However, not all CBD oil is the same. The choice is complicated by various factors, such as the origin of the hemp plant, the extraction process used or the carrier oil. We recommend opting for a full-spectrum extract in organic quality. Other CBD products are available in the form of creams, ointments and gels. Capsules containing either CBD oil or CBD isolate are also available.
What are the benefits of CBD products?
Cannabinoids from the hemp plant such as cannabidiol (CBD) are said to have therapeutic potential. CBD is said to have calming, anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory properties in particular. Accordingly, CBD products are also used for these complaints. CBD can also have a positive effect on the sensation of pain and promote general well-being. When selecting CBD products, particular attention should be paid to high quality.
Is CBD dangerous?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid from the leaves of the hemp plant. It can produce over 100 different cannabinoids, including the well-known tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). However, CBD does not have an intoxicating effect. Provided CBD products are used correctly, mild side effects such as dry mouth, low blood pressure or tiredness are rare. The WHO also confirms that CBD products are well tolerated.
What effect can cannabidiol (CBD) have?
In recent years, research into cannabinoids from the hemp plant has come a long way. Numerous studies have provided important evidence and positive results on the effects of cannabidiol (CBD). Medical CBD shows therapeutic benefits for various diseases and symptoms.
This diverse effect is due to the fact that CBD (like all cannabinoids from the hemp plant) binds to the cannabinoid receptors of the (body's own) endocannabinoid system. This is a type of regulatory system that is involved in numerous biological processes in the body, such as
- Sensation of pain
- inflammatory processes
- appetite control
- Sleep-wake rhythm
- Mood/emotions
How does medical CBD differ from over-the-counter CBD oils?
Over-the-counter CBD products such as CBD oils are not used in scientific studies. This is because the quality can vary considerably depending on the origin of the hemp plants, the extraction process used and other production factors. This is why studies use CBD as a pure substance in pharmaceutical quality or synthetic CBD, from which a possible effect can then be derived.
Another difference is that high doses of CBD are used in studies, which a CBD oil cannot have. For this reason, the study results cannot be transferred to CBD products.
However, this does not mean that CBD oils cannot have any effect. On the contrary: high-quality CBD oil can have a calming, anxiolytic and anti-inflammatory effect. CBD can also influence the sensation of pain and thus promote well-being.
CBD cosmetics
What does CBD do in cosmetics?
CBD is an ingredient from hemp that is used in cosmetics due to its anti-inflammatory effects. With a combination of CBD, hemp oil and other natural ingredients of high quality, the skin care products can also moisturize and provide the skin with valuable antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Is CBD cream dangerous?
The use of CBD cosmetics on the skin is generally not dangerous or hazardous to health. As a general rule for all cosmetic products, a dermatologist should be consulted first to clarify the cause if the skin is severely inflamed or unusually reddened. Many users of organic cosmetics containing CBD report that their skin has improved, their complexion looks fresher and the products are very suitable for skin care.
Can CBD be absorbed through the skin?
Yes, the skin can absorb CBD through the skin. Studies have shown the receptors of the endocannabinoid system in the skin to which CBD binds. However, the CBD does not enter the bloodstream, but only develops its effects at the site where the CBD cosmetic was applied.
For which skin type are CBD products suitable?
ALPINOLS skin care products are 100 percent natural. ALPINOLS has deliberately refrained from using chemical additives. Thanks to the high-quality natural ingredients, both the CBD cream and the CBD serum are suitable for all skin types. People with problem skin in particular can benefit from CBD cosmetics. The products are also an ideal addition to the treatment of skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis.
Is CBD dangerous during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
So far, no study results are available on the effects of CBD on pregnant and breastfeeding women. For ethical reasons, it is not justifiable to conduct studies in this area.
For this reason, the general recommendation is that pregnant and breastfeeding women should refrain from using CBD cosmetic products.
CBD for animals
Which CBD oil is best for cats?
Always look for organic quality when buying CBD oils. CBD oil for cats must also be terpene-free and THC-free.
How quickly does CBD oil work in animals?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Observe your pet's behavior after taking the oil and during the first few days of use.
How does CBD oil work in animals?
Humans and animals have an endocannabinoid system that responds to CBD. This system regulates many processes in the body - from the immune system to sleep.
Side effects of CBD oil for cats?
Previous studies have shown that cats have a fast metabolism and dogs have a somewhat slower metabolism. Therefore, the effects of CBD wear off more quickly in cats than in humans or dogs.
CBD oil should not be used on pregnant animals. It is suspected that CBD can impair placental function.
In general, side effects are rare and there are no concerns for your cat if the correct dosage is used.
Signs of excessive dosing in cats:
- Nausea
- Loss of appetite
- Dry mouth
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Fatigue
Of course, CBD oil for cats should always be discussed with your vet, especially if your pet regularly takes medication.
Side effects of CBD oil for dogs?
There are too few studies to make a clear statement on the dosage and side effects of CBD oil in dogs. In general, CBD is considered to be well tolerated by dogs.
Possible side effects and therefore signs of too high a dosage of CBD oil for dogs are
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting - Gastrointestinal distress
- Fatigue
It usually helps to reduce the dosage for dogs.
However, the use and dosage should be discussed with a vet. In addition, CBD should not be administered to pregnant dogs. The use of CBD in combination with medication should also be discussed with a vet.

What type of hemp do we grow?
Hemp, a plant from the hemp family, consists of two main species: Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica. Hemp has been cultivated and used by humans for thousands of years and is considered the oldest useful plant.
At ALPINOLS we exploit the full potential of Cannabis Sativa.
Why do we grow organically?
Hemp is a deep-rooted plant. This means that the roots grow very deep into the soil. The hemp plant can therefore get enough water from deeper layers of soil even in dry conditions. However, it can also absorb harmful substances in the soil if the soil has not been cultivated organically for long enough. This is why we at ALPINOLS grow our hemp sustainably in accordance with the Bio Suisse guidelines.
Why is our hemp cultivation legal?
We use hemp varieties from the EU industrial hemp catalog, which lists all EU-certified industrial hemp varieties that may be grown in the EU for commercial purposes. Only officially recognized farmers are authorized to grow hemp. These farmers must use special seeds that have been approved by the relevant national authority.
Our CBD products at ALPINOLS meet strict THC limits and we are committed to transparent hemp cultivation. However, please note that CBD-enriched foods and food supplements are classified under the Novel Food Regulation in the EU. In order to sell them, a successful novel food registration is required. Our CBD oils are classified as cosmetics and labeled accordingly.
What other types of extraction are there?
Oil extraction
Cannabinoids are fat-soluble. The hemp leaves are mixed with oil and heated to around 100°C, whereby the cannabinoids dissolve in the oil. However, vegetable oil is quickly perishable and the CBD content with this extraction is also low.
Solvent extraction
Ethanol is used as a solvent for this extraction method. The finely chopped leaves containing the CBD are mixed with the solvent and then heated until only the CBD extract remains. However, not only CBD is extracted here, but also the chlorophyll, which can be harmful to humans in large quantities. In addition, residues of the solvent may be present, which would be very harmful to health.
How is THC-free oil produced?
After CO₂ extraction, a full-spectrum extract is obtained that does not exceed the legally permitted maximum amount of THC. This full-spectrum extract can be converted into a broad-spectrum extract by removing the THC.
This first requires filtration, also known as winterization. Winterization involves freezing the full-spectrum extract with ethanol. This dissolves the vegetable fats in the hemp. The mixture is then filtered and distilled.
The remaining CBD extract is freed from THC by flash chromatography. Due to the different molecular sizes of the cannabinoids, the THC is extracted and removed under pressure.
How do you recognize good CBD oil?
The quality assessment of CBD oil requires attention to various factors: Hemp cultivation under strict conditions - ideally organic, without pesticides; gentle CO2 extraction for optimal cannabinoids and terpenes; tested cannabinoid content and compliance with THC limit; choice between full-spectrum and CBD isolate; transparency through third-party lab testing; carefully chosen carrier oil; reliable reviews; caution with extremely cheap options; consult with professionals if necessary; consider individual reactions. Start with a low dosage and observe the effect.
What do the lab reports show?
The cannabinoid lab reports provide insights into the composition of our CBD products. You will find:
- Cannabinoid contents: Amounts of CBD, THC, CBG, CBN and more are listed to clarify the cannabinoid distribution in the product.
- THC content: Important for possible intoxicating effects, the THC content and its compliance with the legal limits (below 0.2% THC) is indicated.
- Analysis method and laboratory: The test method used and laboratory details are listed to ensure standardized procedures.
- Details of the analysis: Date of analysis, sample type, lot/batch number, and sample designation.
